Artist's Comments

I liked taking pictures at the cemetary and it was really nice and beautiful and peaceful, but sometimes it made me a little sad.

You usually don't see, a lot of the graves there, this nice, this old.

She only lived 8 days in 1908. Not uncommon, but still sad.

Eight days is more than enough time for a mother and father to fall in love with their child. They probably never had a happy day again.

Maybe, but perhaps they had other children to bring them happiness.

Perhaps true, but one never really gets over the loss.

No. I Don't suppose they do, but perhaps it was at least barable. Now I want to go look up that family and see what happened to them. I wonder if I could?

If the grave is in your home town, a visit to the county (town, city, etc) clerk will tell you everything you want to know. I did some reasearch for a magazine article on the flu epidemic at Camp Devens in 1918. They had all the names and hometowns of every soldier that died. It took a little time, but they were able to fix me up. Keep me posted.

They might have it in the cemetary records.... I'll try to find my way back over there soon to check it out.
